We’ve traveled around the globe to uncover authentic adventures and cultural experiences. Our friends include indigenous people like the Quechua and Salasacans of the Andes, the Archuar of the Amazon, and the Kuna and Ngobo-bugle of Panama. We’d like to introduce you to some of them and to share and spread some of the happiness we’ve found on our adventures.

We’ve pulled together some fantastic journeys that few get to experience, and instilled them within a matrix of healthy living and holistic practices. Adventures and activities will offer opportunities for lessons and habits that can be carried forth to benefit your everyday life.

Peru Andean Spirit Tour, 8 Days, 7 Nights

In Andean Cosmology, all of life is experienced as a celebration and is perceived as one grand, infinite ceremony. Venture Outside’s Andean Spirit tour is an off-the beaten path unique celebration that combines physical adventures in the incomparable Andes, with immersion in the spiritual and holistic well-being of Andean cosmology.

Experience sublime clarity at Lake Titicaca, and get lost in the mystery at the tombs of Cutimbo. Stay with an indigenous family in the high Andes or on an island in the middle of Lake Titicaca, and brave the cold water for a swim that redefines the word ‘refreshing’. Drink chicha with direct descendants of the Incas and learn the intricacies and mysteries of Incan architecture in Ollantaytambo. Reach new physical and spiritual heights at high Andes peaks and passes and learn the language of the Apus, or mountain spirits. Walk portions of the Inca Trail that never see the treads of typical tourists, take in undocumented and undeveloped ruins, and soak in traditional volcanic hot springs with the locals. Tap into mystical healing energies, and take part in a traditional Despacho ceremony to remember the connections we share with all beings, elements, spirits, and sacred places.

The typical tourist to Peru flies to Cusco, takes the train to Macchu Piccu, shops in downtown Cusco, and maybe does a quick flight over to the jungle or to the staged floating reed village on Lake Titcaca, and calls it a wrap.  Our itinerary allows some time to explore the worthy corners of Cusco, and can accommodate add-ons like Machu Picchu (it is after all Machu Picchu), and trekking at high elevation in the Andes.

Led by a select group of Andean shamans, your experience will set the stage for incredible personal exploration and life-changing transformation.

Choose a range of accommodation levels ranging from bare-bones hostel bed, to home stays, to luxury spa level.

Our menu will be decidedly local in flavor, so expect a lot of amazing dishes of quinoa, potatoes, alpaca, beans, and gallina.

We offer several add-ons to extend this to a two week trip, including:

Machu Picchu – 2 days, 1 night via train; or 4 days and 3 nights via hiking on the Inca Trail).

Hiking the Salkantay Pass – 3 days, 2 nights. A high elevation trek through a high Andes Pass down to subtropical forest.

Picture slider for Ecuador

Ecuador – Andes and Amazon Immersion. 8 Days, 7 Nights.

Ecuador is a traveler’s paradise that offers beautiful and peaceful Pacific Ocean beaches, Andes grandeur, and Amazon mystique all in one compact package. Ecuador is home to some of the highest biodiversity on earth, an intriguing history, and wonderful cultural diversity. Pockets of indigenous communities cling to the old ways of harmony with the earth, and traditional dress and customs. Immersion in the nature of Ecuador guarantees to renew, recharge, and transform!

Join Venture Outside for a host of invigorating and healing activities off-the-beaten path in Ecuador.  Celebrate with music and traditional meals on a pilgrimage to a remote high Andean plain (pampas) with an indigenous tribe and take part in an Andean Despacho to pay homage to the Apus of the mountains. Learn how to weave with an internationally-recognized master weaver in the small indigenous Village of Salasaka. Soak in a natural volcanic spring in Banos. Mountain bike down the inactive volcano Chimbarazo, starting at the glacier snowpack. Hike to and swim in remote waterfalls. Ride a cayuca canoe on an Amazonian river to a roadless indigenous community and hike between settlements, experiencing jungle life to its fullest, right down to the menu of boiled plantains and river fish. Experience healing ceremonies with Amazonian shamans.

Led by a combination of indigenous guides and experienced Ecuadorean adventure guides, your experience will set the stage for incredible personal exploration and life-changing transformation.

This trip includes a range of accommodation levels ranging from bare-bones hostels, to home stays, to luxury spas.

The menu on Venture Outside trips is always decidedly local in flavor, so expect plenty of amazing dishes of potatoes, beans, humitas, lomo saltado, mote, and for the adventurous, sample the cuy.

We offer several add-ons to extend this to a two week trip, including:

The Coast of Ecuador – 3 days, 2 nights. Based in Puerto Lopez, this trip is focused on the beautiful and pristine beaches of Machalilla National Park. It offers rugged hiking along the coast, a walk through a local indigenous community and a dip in their volcanic hot spring. The trip also includes an excursion to Isla de la Plata, an island off the coast that hosts many of the same species of wildlife found in the Galapagos.

Galapagos Adventure Extension – 6 Days, 6 Nights. The Galapagos Islands are incredible, and are simply a must-see travel destination for anyone who loves nature. Most people who visit the Galapagos will do so from a berth on a cruise ship, where they will eat too much, be herded like sheep, and still have the trip of a lifetime. This kind of boat trip unfortunately leaves much on the table.

As an alternative to the canned boat tour, let Venture Outside lead you on  a customized adventure that’s heavy on nature immersion (it’s the Galapagos!), just right on physical activity and “exploratory” with the culture. Our trip is based out of Puerto Ayora, on Santa Cruz Island in the central part of the Galapagos archipelago.

It includes:

·     Trips to several different islands, each with a unique ecology and wildlife community,

·     A one-day visit and stay on an organic farming operation in the midst of a community of land tortoises,

·     A mix of physical activities including hiking, mountain biking, snorkeling, and swimming.

·     Yoga on the beach,

·     Interpretive nature walks to learn about traditional uses of plants.
