10 Nov Island Kayak Retreat – Sea Kayak, Meditate and Yoga on the Coast of Maine – Acadia Region
Two days on a Maine island. No distractions, but full-on immersion. Restoration to the max. Join us for sea kayaking, yoga, nature meditation, beach combing, music and natural history in a wonderful setting in downeast Maine. We’ll spend the first evening on the mainland at Schoodic Institute and set off early the next morning to spend most of two days on the island, camping the second night.
Day 1 – Arrive at retreat location between 3 and 5 p.m., move into your accommodations, and explore the surroundings. We’ll kick things off with the first part of the welcome session to meet the guides and fellow retreaters at 5 p.m., have an orientation, and get acquainted with our kayak with a short paddling excursion. We’ll follow that up with a delicious meal and an evening session of relaxing and meditative music on cello and guitar, with singing and chanting. We’ll cap the evening off with a short nighttime walk to breathe in and celebrate the air, water and music of nature! We might get to see phosphorescence! (Dinner provided)
Day 2 – We’ll begin the day with morning yoga in nature, followed by breakfast. We will then make our way down to the shore to introduce you to your kayak and go over some useful skills. We will kayak out to an island where we will have lunch, and time for meditation, journaling, reading, exploring, or napping. We’ll gather for dinner, and then we will gather around a fire. All will be encouraged to participate in music to whatever form you are moved to, be it dancing, stretching, singing, chanting, playing, or simply appreciating. There will be an optional late evening hike to revel in nighttime sounds and reflect, and if conditions allow, stargaze and look for the northern lights. We will then retire to our cozy tents for our night on the island. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner provided)
Day 3 – We’ll begin the day with yoga and chanting to welcome the sunrise followed by a nutritious breakfast. Then we will break camp and begin the journey back to the Mainland. We will eat lunch together before our parting ceremony. (Breakfast and Lunch provided).
